Critically renowned and Oscar-winning director Jordan Peele’s latest “terror” is officially called Nope, according to a poster the director published on Thursday. The details of the project remain shrouded in mystery, and you’ll still have a bit longer to wait before you can see it yourself – Nope is set to be released in theaters on July 22nd, 2022.
The poster Peele posted doesn’t reveal much, but it does show an ominous dark cloud with what appears to be a kite line running out the back. Peele’s tease for his last film Us was equally evocative and obtuse, so while there’s probably meaning to be gleaned from a mysterious cloud rolling over a mountain town, it’s also nice to let the mystery be.
Little to no information about the upcoming film has been made public, except from the tagline on the poster, which defines “Nope” as “a new terror from the mind of Academy Award winner Jordan Peele.” We do know that Daniel Kaluuya, who was nominated for an Academy Award for his performance in Jordan Peele’s directorial debut, “Get Out,” will play with Keke Palmer and Steven Yeun in “Nope.” Barbie Ferreira, who starred in “Euphoria,” is among the newly announced cast members.
While we wait for the movie trailer, feel free to make your own theories about what might happen on the film.
