Jon Favreau‘s ‘Chef’ – A movie that should be on your list

From 2000 to 2021, we’ve seen a plethora of great films on both a small and large scale. We had a lot of it even before the 2000s. I’ll suggest one of the great films. Everyone’s definition of what constitutes a “great” term differs. The term “great” cannot be defined from a single point of view. However, if you have a different viewpoint, you are welcome to share it in the comments section of this post. For now, I’ll take you back to 2014.

You’ve all heard of Jon Favreau, right? Yes, as Happy Hogan in Iron Man, Avenger, Spider-Man, and many other films, this man plays Tony Stark’s assistant or security. And, more recently, he has been featured in several Marvel films. Another fact about him is that he is the creator of the Star Wars Disney + The Mandalorian series.

In 2014, Favreau produced, wrote, directed, and starred in Chef, an independent film about a chef (Carl Casper) who quits his famous restaurant after a social media confrontation with a food critic and runs a food truck with his son, Percy. He claims that he wants to go “back to basics” and create a movie about cooking. It seems simple from the title, but if you already watched this, you may have your own reasons why this movie should be on your list. I will give two reasons why this independent film should be on your watch list.

  • The first reason is passion.

We will see some passion in one film, as we have seen in others, if the director directs it correctly. When a director directs a film, you can tell if he or she is a passionate person. This film is the result of a passion and a reflection of Jon Favreau’s life, despite the fact that cooking is the main theme. The character emphasises that cooking is his way of life, one of his favourite activities, and his main thought even after he quits. Favreau, in my opinion, wants to share his passion for directing, writing, and producing a film through unfathomable efforts in this film.

  • The second reason is simplicity.

I’ve seen several complex film in the previous year, and this year also. Nothing other films could beat this film for its simplicity. The plot is straightforward, with a conflict between a father and his son, a father and his previous employer, he and a food critic, and, most importantly, he and himself. As you can see in each scene, he tries to prove that he can survive by doing what he enjoys and is passionate about. Although there will be many challenges along the way, he will be able to open his own restaurant with persistence and optimism. Carl’s development, which began with him thinking only of himself, has changed along the way as he, his partner, and his son travel in the food truck.

That’s all there is to The Chef; you may learn a lot of life lessons as well as cooking tips and techniques from the film. You can watch this movie with your family or friends. Well, this film can also serve as an inspiration for many new entrepreneurs these days, both in terms of marketing and how to push yourself in order to achieve your goals.
