Followed by the trailer released in August, it is confirmed that JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean will begin streaming first and foremost on Netflix on 1st December 2021.
Stone Ocean marks the 5th season of the anime series, or part 6 on the manga with Golden Wind as its latest predecessor which was released in 2018.
The news was confirmed during the Netflix Festival Japan 2021 event by three main voice actors of the upcoming anime; Ai Fairouz, Mariya Ise, and Mutsumi Tamura.
“The anime Stone Ocean will start streaming worldwide exclusively on Netflix on Wednesday 1st December 2021!” said Ai Fairouz enthusiastically, who voice acts as Jolyne Cujoh, the protagonist of Stone Ocean. Ai Fairouz is also a long-time superfan of JoJo and had looked forward to making her dreams come true as JoJo’s voice actress.
Netflix is going to drop 12 episodes at once on 1st December as the first batch, followed by other batches at the beginning of 2022. This batch release is deemed quite unusual by many long-time dedicated fans of the series as the previous anime seasons were released one episode weekly and in total, a season would take roughly 6 months to finalize.
Stone Ocean follows the story of Jolyne Cujoh, the daughter of part 3’s protagonist, Jotaro Kujo, who is framed for a crime she never did and sentenced to 15 years of jail time. Being framed is just the tip of the iceberg once Jolyne learns about the grim truth of the prison she goes to.
The 5th installment of the anime series will conclude the centuries-old feud between the Joestar family and their most iconic nemesis DIO.
