JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: A Legacy to be Continued With Part 9 Confirmed

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is one of the most popular and best-selling manga series in Japan. The series follows the story of the Joestar family and its descendants fighting off evil villains, which spans multiple generations in different eras from the 19th to 21st century. The series has been running since 1987, making it, along with One Piece, one of the longest-running series in Japanese manga history. The series experienced a soft reboot in 2004, with Part 1-6 being published by Weekly Shounen Jump and the rest by Ultra Jump.

Recently, with Jojolion, part 8, finally coming to an end on 19th Aug 2021 after running for exactly a decade, it was confirmed that the series will move on with a new 9th part. There is no exact date yet but Araki said that he’ll start working on part 9, which is temporarily titled “JOJO Lands”, after taking a short break from Jojolion.

Apart from Part 9, there is also another plan for a new spinoff manga that features key characters from the earlier parts, such as Hol Horse from Stardust Crusaders and Josuke Higashikata. It wasn’t clear though which Josuke they referred to, it might be either the one from part 4 or 8. The spinoff will be written by Kohei Kadono and illustrated by Tasuku Karasuma.

Prior to these announcements, the upcoming anime adaptation of Stone Ocean (part 6) also had its very first trailer released on 8th Aug 2021. Surely, the loyal fans of JoJo have been very enthusiastic to finally get to see this part get animated after almost 2 decades of waiting since the manga series of this part was finalized in 2004 prior to Steel Ball Run (part 7).
