Jang Ki Yong has enlisted in the military on Monday, Aug 23.
Before his enlistment, the actor posted a black and white photo of himself along with a handwritten statement on Instagram, while his co-stars showed their support for him.
“Thanks to the people who have loved and supported me till now, I was able to spend my 20s happily. I’ll come back strong and healthy for another incredible time in my 30s. Thank you all, and I love you,” he wrote.
YG Entertainment revealed on July 26, that Jang Ki Yong will enlist in the military after finishing filming his upcoming drama “Now We Are Breaking Up” with actress Song Hye Kyo. The location and time of enlistment will not be disclosed to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Jang Ki- Yong and Lee Hyeri recently starred in “My Roommate Is a Gumiho,” which aired from May to July.
Jang began his career as a fashion model in 2012. In 2014, he made his small-screen debut in SBS’ love drama “It’s Okay, That’s Love.” Jang gained stardom after starring in his first lead role in “Search: WWW” (2019). He is also known for his roles in KBS2’s “Go Back Couple” (2017) and tvN’s “My Mister” (2018).
“Now, We Are Breaking Up,” Jang’s upcoming TV show, will premiere on SBS in November. He’ll portray Yoon Jae-kook, an attractive, intelligent, and wealthy fashion photographer, while Song Hye Kyo will play Ha Young-Eun, a beautiful, fashionable, and disciplined designer at a fashion company.
