IU Releases “Pieces” a Special Mini-Album

IU released her special mini album ‘Pieces’ on December 29. 

‘Pieces’ is a 5-song mini album. They are unreleased songs from her previous albums, includes the song ‘Next Stop,’ which she played in a live video uploaded to YouTube the day before yesterday (December 28).

Previously, IU had also performed ‘Love Letter’ on Yoo Heeyeol’s Sketchbook. It is the final track on ‘Pieces’.

IU explained that each song from the album had been gathered to form “pieces” of a picture. “While each of these songs are precious to me, rather than forming their own complete pictures, I thought it was fitting to put them together to create one image,” IU said.

The concept of unreleased songs is quite similar to what Taylor Swift did, “from the vault”. Some IU-Taylor fans have made a few jokes saying Pieces tracks are (IU’s Version) (From the Vault).

As expected, all songs from ‘Pieces’ are gorgeous and beautiful. IU has always raised her own bars, doing it very flawlessly through her music through story-telling. 

‘Pieces’ will be IU’s first release since the digital single ‘Strawberry Moon’, which was released in October with its cute little music video. 

‘LILAC’ earned Album of the Year at the Melon Music Awards 2021 earlier this month. She also won Artist of The Year and Best Female Solo.

She also won Best Female Artist and Best Vocal Performance at the Mnet Asian Music Awards 2021 for the single “Celebrity.” ELLE magazine had also named IU women’s pride of 2021.

IU is also announced to be part of the performance line-up for the 36th Golden Music Awards. Stay tuned to that!
