International Women’s Day with One Piece Women!


March 8 marks the day for International Women’s Day where we celebrate the holiday to commemorate and recognize women’s efforts and rights in society, as well as women’s achievements culturally, politically, and socioeconomically.


One Piece, a Japanese shōnen manga written by Eiichiro Oda has notable and iconic strong female characters who should also be celebrated during International Women’s Day. 


From January 3, 2021, to February 28, 2021, Shueisha held a ONE PIECE character popularity poll titled the “World Top 100”, and ranked the top 100 popular characters globally. 


Here are the top 5  most popular ONE PIECE female characters that made it on the poll!

1. Nami

Nami ranked #3 on the poll with 1,085,141 points. Nami, one of the earliest members of the Straw Hat Crew is the designated navigator that everyone relies on for traversing The Blue Sea. Nami wishes to draw a map of the entire world and is on her journey to fulfilling that dream.

2. Nico Robin

Robin ranked #6 on the poll with 599,835 points and is also one of the Straw Hat crew members. Robin is a valuable member of the crew as she possesses high intelligence and is also a devil fruit user with ‘Hana Hana no Mi’. As an archeologist, Robin’s dream is to find the Rio Poneglyph.


3. Boa Hancock 

Boa Hancock, the only female Warlord of the Sea out of 7 in ONE PIECE is ranked #7 on the poll with 392,951 points. After becoming Warlord of the Sea due to the organization’s disbandment, the “Pirate Empress” is currently the captain of the Kuja Pirates.

4. Carrot 

Carrot coming in #8 with 388,565 points is a member of the Inuarashi Musketeer Squad and is one of the beloved allies of the Straw Hat Crew during the Four Emperors Saga. As one of the MInk Musketeers, she dreams of exploring the world. 


5. Nefertari Vivi

The Princess of Alabasta ranked #21 on the poll. Also known as Miss Wednesday, Vivi was a former member of the Straw Hat Crew and successfully protected and restored Alabas
