Indonesian government will use 5G network to support G20 summit

Cooperating with Telkom Group, Indonesian government prepares 5G network connection to support G20 summit. The G20 summit will take place in Bali in October 2022.

Kartika Wirjoatmodjo, State-Owned Enterprises Deputy Minister stated that; the 5G network connection would support activities that rely on video streaming for all summit participants.

She added “The 5g network will facilitate the streaming event. We will provide the best streaming quality to help all partici[ants presents (leaders and delegates). And to experience the 5G network in Indonesia,”.

The bandwidth speed of the 5G network connection is estimated to be as fast as 800 Mbps to 1.2 Gbps, or ranging from 4 Mbps to 6 Mbps for each user.

The summit will use many hi-tech facilities. And one of them is the usage of virtual reality. The addition of 5G network at least in the summit area will bring improvements in the technology usage at the summit. Johnny Gerard Plate, Minister of Communications stated that Telkom and Telkomsel will play a big role in preparing 5G network; with the latest benchmark for PON Papua.

The topics discussed in the summit are: transition to sustainable energy, the world health system, and economic and digital transformation.

The summit itself will consist of only two meetings. The Sherpa Track and the Financial Track.

The Sherpa Track will discuss non-financial economic issues. Such in topics of energy, development, tourism; digital economy, education, labor, agriculture, trade; investment, industry, health, anti-corruption, environment, and climate change.

The Financial Track will discuss economy-related issues. Such in exit policies for global economic recovery after the pandemic; impact of COVID-19 on the real sector; digital payment systems, sustainable finance, financial inclusion; and international taxation.
