More than 236,000 people had their first vaccination on Wednesday, making a total of 38.6 million, while more than 24 million are fully vaccinated at the moment.
The number of people infected with coronavirus in the UK has risen by 3,542 in the past 24 hours, and 10 more people have died from COVID-19, according to government figures.
Covid-19 cases of about 3,180 were reported yesterday, with nine more deaths linked to the coronavirus.
Today’s daily number of infections is the highest since April 12, when 3,568 cases were reported.
This is as a result of the 236,119 people who received a first dose of a COVID vaccine on Wednesday, summing the total up to 38,614,683.

And 427,458 received their second vaccination on Wednesday, which means that 24,043,956 people in the UK are now fully vaccinated.
According to the government figures, a total of 127,758 people have died within 28 days of testing positive for COVID-19, since the start of the pandemic.
There are now 153,000 deaths documented in the UK where COVID-19 was stated on the death certificate, according to data released by the Office for National Statistics.
