Hurricane Ida Swamps New York City

Hurricane Ida swept through the mid-south, hitting the Southern states hard. With severe flooding and disastrous damage done in its wake, Ida has broken records with its heavy rainfall. Leaving many people in the panhandle without power, many missing and injured, Ida has become a murderous storm that has now hit New York City.

With an estimate of 46 killed, many more injured due to the severe flooding, Hurricane Ida has left record after record in its path. For the first time in its history, New York has called a state of emergency for flash flooding. 

Many subway passengers wading through the waters as the subways of the city were reported to be flooded to chest level. Many are left to find alternative means of transportation with subways shut down due to the severity of the flooding.

Walking is nearly impossible due to the roads being flooded to the point where cars are barely able to make it on the roads. The city has issued a warning to drivers to avoid the roads and stay indoors as much as possible until the storm passes.

Many are scrambling to find safety and shelter from the storm, there are hundreds who are without power. Warning of the dangers in being below sub-level, advisors have brought to attention that the storm flooding has already killed eleven people located in a basement. With the flooding being at chest level in sub-level compartments, it is dangerous for anyone located below ground floors. 

The story is said to level a historic amount of damage in its wake all across the East coast. Lives being lost, and hundreds injured due to the storm, Hurricane Ida is being called one of the worst storms of the decade.
