Is 700 horsepower in an F-150 not enough for you? Hennessey got you covered – their incoming VelociRaptoR (yep, that’s how they named it) 1000 has a bigger supercharger with upgraded internals, and you can thank their previous ventures.
It’s cool enough of Ford to stuff in the same 5.2-liter Predator V8 inside the regular F-150 Raptor R (albeit with less power), but the folks at Hennessey are throwing out the 2.7-liter supercharger in favor of a 3.8-liter one. Along with it comes a new supercharger belt, a high-flow intake system, upgraded fuel lines, and larger fuel injectors, resulting in a claimed 40% performance increase. The Raptor R makes 700 horsepower and 640 lb-ft of torque, so it’s 980 horses and somewhere around 850 lb-ft to all four wheels. And you thought the Mammoth Ram TRX was mad.
Learning From the Past
All of this was possible thanks to a recent Mustang they worked on; that being the Venom 1200, a Mustang given the Hennessey treatment to have 1204 horses and an astonishing 902 lb-ft. With both the Raptor R and the GT500 having the same engine (albeit detuned on the former), it probably won’t have the same numbers as the Venom, but that Mustang runs on E85 and is a whole other machine, and near-1000 horses in a truck is wild enough.
Other than the upgraded internals, you get “R1000” decals on the side, new 20-inch rims by Hennessey wrapped in 37-inch offroad treads, different front and rear bumpers, and an LED light bar on the front. There’s a plaque with a build serial number, and we’re guessing it’s a limited edition. No price has been given as of yet, but those with a wish for the VelociRaptoR can place their orders through Hennessey or an authorized Ford dealer. Production begins sometime next year. Just don’t ask about fuel economy.
