“Happy!” : Cartoon Unicorn Action Thriller

When you first meet the main character, Nick Sax, in the Netflix show Happy!, you wonder what his past and present realities are as he gradually reveals himself to be a former officer turned so-called hit man over the course of the plot. He mistakenly witnesses a dangerous family, the Scaramucci’s, enacting a hit and from then on the plot fully plummets into suspenseful chaos due to his life continuing under serious threat.

You find out Sax is actually a police outcast, having been disgraced and is now continuing his life with heavy drinking and drugs, which puts all of his perspectives and narrative in general under question in some fascinating and ultimately entertaining ways for audiences. For fans of the series, SVU, this series certainly gives a different police narrative to Christopher Meloni’s best-known character.

When a young girl goes missing at the hands of a nefarious Santa Claus outside an event, the murder, crime, and conspiracy plots continue to thicken around Sax. In her last seen moments before being kidnapped, the girl is shown speaking to an unknown, unseen character named Happy. Sax continues to work against the Scaramucci family after this threat is posed and, after suffering a heart attack, begins to also see this same character, Happy, who manifests as a small, flying, blue unicorn.

In this suspenseful comedy unlike anything you’ve ever seen, the trippy scenes and action sequences truly take you in. The comedy especially takes effect with the unicorn, Happy, which can only be seen by Sax and the missing girl, Hailey. The relationships and increasingly-revealed connections between the key characters will also keep you watching!
