Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies Series

 The classic 1978 film Grease has announced TV show prequel series in the works. It has officially given the green light, and is set to air on Paramount+ soon!

The 10-episode show will follow four new characters described as fed-up, outcast girls who dare to have fun on their own terms, sparking a moral panic that will change Rydell High forever. Each episode of the new TV series will run for an hour.

The prequel is written and executive produced by creator Annabel Oakes (Atypical), who also will serve as showrunner. Marty Bowen will be produced executively via Temple Hill. Erik Feig will be produced executively produce via Picturestart.

Based on the 1971 musical of the same name by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey, the film starred John Travolta as Danny Zuko and Olivia Newton-John as Sandy, while Grease 2 starred Maxwell Caulfield and Michelle Pfeiffer. The franchise returned in 2016 via a live staging on Fox which starred starring Julianne Hough and Vanessa Hudgens.

Danny’s the leader of the T-Birds, a group of black leather jacket-wearing greasers while Sandy hangs with the Pink Ladies, a group of pink-wearing girls led by Rizzo (Stockard Channing).
