Based on the Google Year in Search 2021 report, Indonesian people during 2021 consume more diverse content through various types of platforms. It is known from the searches of Indonesian consumers who are looking for additional data quotas specifically for certain media types, which are quite high.


Based on the report, Google noted that there was a 500 percent growth in search interest for streaming quotas. The highest search interest came from West Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, and West Java, including cities such as Jambi and Bandar Lampung.


The report also noted that searches for over-the-top brand providers increased by 44 percent over the past year. In addition, interest in browsing multimedia quotas also increased by 280 percent.


“The highest search interest comes from the regions of Papua, Central Sulawesi, and West Sulawesi,” Google wrote in its report.


There was also an increase in search interest related to anime by 63 percent, streaming soap operas by 55 percent, and Indonesian films by 17 percent. On the other hand, it turns out that Indonesians are also happy to watch online concerts in 2021. This can be seen from the interest in searching for virtual concerts which increased 133 percent over the past year.


Then during big day celebrations, Indonesians are known to often watch content together to strengthen their relationship with their loved ones. Google found that during the month of Ramadan, 7 out of 10 Indonesians watch more video content online.


Not only that but Indonesians are also known to want modern and fresh content, which can be seen from YouTube search interest for new series, which has increased by 42 percent.


Meanwhile, the search for the top 5 movies and TV shows online by Indonesians in 2021 are Squid Game, Ali & Ratu-Ratu Queens, Jingga & Senja, Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha, and Vincenzo.
