Google was momentarily unavailable on Tuesday, with users in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Singapore, and elsewhere reporting troubles with Alphabet’s search engine.
The website was “having problems,” according to DownDetector.com.
At its height in the United States, over 40,000 people claimed that Google was down. The value dropped fast and has remained below 100 since roughly 2 a.m. ET.
Google stated in a statement that “We’re aware of a software upgrade problem that happened later in the afternoon Pacific Time and momentarily impaired the functionality of Google Search and Maps.”
“We worked fast to resolve the issue, and all services are now operational again.”
Some others shared images of problem warnings, while others joked about searching on Google to see whether the search tool was down.
