Golden Century goes into administration amid outbreak in Sydney

Loyal patrons of the Golden Century Seafood Restaurant have mourned its permanent closure, but it has recently moved to administration amid the restrictions due to COVID-19

Australian news outlet 9News has recently reported that the Golden Century Seafood Restaurant went into administration earlier this month after it suffered setbacks due to lockdowns and other restrictions over the spread of COVID-19, according to documents from the Australian Securities Investment Commission or ASIC.

Several people used to wait at the corner on Sussex Street just to eat and hang out at one of the notable restaurants in Sydney in the previous months, but the outbreak of COVID-19 has led the Golden Century Seafood Restaurant to close its current line of business permanently, sending waves of disappointment among its constant patrons in Sydney.

The parties have hired Chifley Advisory, a firm on insolvency, for Honourful on August 17.

Eric and Linda Wong moved from Hong Kong to Australia and launched the Golden Century Seafood Restaurant in a small area in 1989, two years before they moved to its current location.

The Golden Century Seafood Restaurant has been providing Pippies in XO Sauce, its most famous dish among their dishes with seafood in the Cantonese style.

The Golden Century Seafood Restaurant has hosted celebrities such as American pop-star Lady Gaga, Barbadian singer Rihanna, President George HW Bush of the United States, and British rock-star Rod Stewart as well as political figures such as John Howard, Tony Abbott, and Scott Morrison of the Australian Liberal Party.

Chefs have been frequenting and dining there after the end of their shifts at other restaurants in Sydney.

The Golden Century Seafood Restaurant also runs The Century restaurant at the Star Casino and XOPP in The Darling Exchange.
