If you’re a PC gamer and you’re a fan of the God of War series on Sony’s PlayStation 4, then you’re in luck! Sony is bringing God of War (2018) to PC early next year.
Sony Finally Decides to Share
Prior to this, the God of War series has been a PlayStation exclusive. This meant that they would only release on PlayStation consoles, with God of War (2018) only available on the PlayStation 4 (PS4).
In a recent blog post, they announced that they will be breaking that trend by releasing God of War (2018) on PC. The game will be available for purchase starting from January 14th, 2022. Currently, you can pre-order the game on Steam and the Epic Games Store for $49.99.
Gamers who choose to play this game on PC will be able to play it in full 4K resolution and unlocked frame rates. The game will also support up to a 21:9 widescreen aspect ratio, and will be able to support Nvidia’s DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling).

To get the full PlayStation experience, PC gamers will be able to play using DualShock 4 and DualSense controllers. However, full keyboard mapping is also supported, for those more comfortable on keyboard and mouse.
The purchase of God of War (2018) will also include added content, including the Death’s Vow Armor Sets for Kratos and Atreus, and several other shield skins.
What does this mean for the future?
Before this, the idea of console exclusives coming to PC was practically unfathomable. Especially when it comes to titles as big as God of War. This used to be because of hardware differences, where porting the game from console took a lot of effort and resources. However, times are changing, and we might just see more and more titles come to PC. This is because consoles are getting similar to PCs when it comes to their internal architecture. With more people having capable PCs now, it only makes sense for them to switch to a timed-exclusive business model, where the games become available elsewhere after a certain amount of time.

Whatever it is, let’s just enjoy the gaming landscape we have right now, and look forward to more PC ports of console-exclusive titles.
