Garuda Indonesia airline with Emirates announced the launch of codeshare cooperation which has been in effect since yesterday, Wednesday (9/3/202). Through the codeshare partnership, Garuda Indonesia and Emirates expand flight network connectivity to 16 flight routes in Indonesia, the Middle East, to Europe, served by each airline.
“As one of our strategic codeshare partners, Emirates will provide access to a wider choice of international destinations and increase the convenience of our shared services,” said Garuda Indonesia President Director Irfan Setiaputra in a written statement, Wednesday (9/3/2022) night.
Irfan said that the launch of the codeshare cooperation was a follow-up to the signing of the memorandum of understanding that had been carried out in November 2021. In addition, it also referred to the licensing from the regulator to operate the routes included in the codeshare cooperation.
Through the codeshare partnership, Irfan ensures that Garuda Indonesia service users can get a variety of flight network accessibility options that are more seamless to various flight destinations served by Emirates. These destinations are Dubai, Paris, London Heathrow, Manchester, Milan, and Barcelona.
Meanwhile, Emirates service users can also choose a variety of flight route connectivity to various leading destinations in Indonesia served by Garuda Indonesia through two flight hubs Jakarta and Denpasar. The flight destinations include Denpasar, Surabaya, Makassar, Balikpapan, Manado, Medan, Padang and Solo which will be served through the Jakarta hub. Meanwhile, domestic destinations served through the Denpasar hub are Jakarta, Surabaya, and Makassar.
“This partnership is in line with Garuda’s commitment to national economic recovery and connecting Indonesia to the world,” said Irfan.
He assessed, with more and more countries loosening travel restrictions and reopening borders, it is hoped that it will be able to serve Emirates service users who fly to Indonesia. In addition, Garuda service users are traveling to more destinations around the world.
Meanwhile, Emirates Chief Commercial Officer, Adnan Kazim, said he was happy to have a partnership with Garuda Indonesia. Especially in bringing seamless connectivity to customers of both airlines.
“This codeshare partnership will allow us to expand our reach, and allow our customers to use our services and fly to other Indonesian domestic destinations besides Jakarta and Bali,” said Adnan.
Adnan said Emirates is also happy to provide access to popular destinations outside Dubai visited by Indonesian tourists as well as many other benefits to Garuda Indonesia customers. Adnan hopes to continue to strengthen the partnership and introduce more benefits and added value that can be enjoyed by customers of both airlines.
Garuda Indonesia currently has codeshare partnerships with more than 23 airline partners and 70 interline partners that offer Garuda Indonesia passenger connectivity to hundreds of destinations around the world.
Meanwhile, Emirates currently has codeshare partnerships with 23 partner airlines and interline partnerships with more than 115 airlines and rail companies.
Tickets for codeshare flights are open starting March 16, 2022. Then tickets can be ordered through garuda-indonesia.com, the Fly Garuda application, and through travel agents. Ticket bookings can also be made from the emirates.com side, the Emirates app, or through online and offline travel agents.
