First Trailer of Nicolas Cage’s Prisoner of the Ghostland

The first trailer for Nicolas Cage’s next action movie Prisoners of the Ghostland has been unveiled, featuring him in tight leathers wielding a samurai sword.

The film stars Sofia Boutella (Atomic Blonde), Nick Cassavetes (Face/Off), and Bill Moseley (Halloween 2007) and follows a notorious criminal (Cage) who is tasked with tracking down and retrieving Bernice (Boutella), a wealthy warlord’s abducted daughter. Sion Sono directed Prisoners of the Ghostland, which marks the second time Cage and Cassavetes have featured in a film together since 1997’s Face/Off.

He embarks on his journey and soon finds himself in “the Ghostland, a land of no escape,” a place filled with eerie characters and strange occurrences. Things quickly devolve into brawling and explosions, with Cage screaming, “I am radioactive.”

Nick Cassavetes, Tak Sakaguchi, and Yuzuka Nakaya all-starring in the film, which is directed by Sion Sono, who also helmed Tag and Tokyo Vampire Hotel.

Cage has made a comeback in recent years, appearing in a slew of odd, auteur-driven films ripe for a cult following, including Mandy, Color Out Of Space, and, most recently, Pig. Prisoners of the Ghostland, in Cage’s own words, “is the wildest movie [he’s] ever made,” appears to be no exception. Cage’s latest film appears to be on track to bring more of the lunacy that his fans have come to anticipate, as well as imaginative action, unique world-building, and a riveting ensemble of supporting characters. On September 17th, Prisoners of the Ghostland will be released in theaters and on-demand.

On September 17, Prisoners of the Ghostland will be released in UK theatres and on digital platforms.
