Fairly Oddparents Gets Another Grown-Up Live Action But No Drake Bell

Paramount Plus will stream a new Fairly OddParents live action called The Fairly OddParents: Fairly Odder. However, there’s no more Drake Bell, and Caleb Pierce will replace him.

A trailer from Paramount Plus revealed Timmy Turner all grown up as he gives Wanda and Cosmo, his beloved fairy oddparents, to two new kids, Vivian and Roy. The kids have their wacky adventures with ridiculous wishes just like Timmy back in the old days of Nicktoons.

Apparently, Vivian, played by Audrey Grace Marshall, is Timmy’s young cousin, but it’s not stated or shown in the trailer. He just drops off his beloved oddparents and leaves. With Cosmo and Wanda at her side, Vivian also meets Roy, her new stepbrother who’s pretty wacky and crazy himself.

Clearly, there are two things different from the past live action adaptations. One, there’s no Drake Bell, and two, Cosmo and Wanda are 2D instead of 3D. To be honest, I haven’t seen the old movies since I was a kid, but 3D fairies had a bit of charm to them. The casting for Mr. Crocker back then also fit, but he probably won’t return in the new series.

This series is for a newer generation with fresh characters. They could have callbacks and references, but they’ll most likely set up their own characters. At least they have Susanne Blakeslee and Daran Norris coming back to voice the old fairies, Cosmo and Wanda. It starts streaming on March 31 if you want to check it out.
