Ed Sheeran Announces New Album ‘=’ in October

Ed Sheeran has confirmed the release date of his new album via Instagram on Aug 19. He announced the title of his fifth studio album, “=” (pronounced equals) which will be out on October 29.

“I started writing and recording this album in June 2017. It’s been a long, long process. I’ve been through love, loss, new life, grief, and everything in between during the whole period of writing it, and I feel like it’s really a coming of age record. I’ve never been more proud of a body of work, or more excited/nervous for you all to hear it,” The British Singer-Songwriter revealed.

“The next song off of it is called ‘Visiting Hours’, which I finished for my friend Michael who sadly passed away this year. If you preorder the album you get this song with it, but it’s also on all platforms from now too. Lots more music to come, but for now I hope you are as excited as I for this album. ‘=’ everywhere from October 29th.”

Sheeran’s new album will have 14 songs, including “Visiting Hours”. He stated during an Instagram Live that the song isn’t the only new material that fans will hear before the album’s formal release in two months. He teased, “[Visiting Hours] is not the next single”. “The next single will be released on September 10th”. Sheeran not only performed “Visiting Hours”, but also announced the album’s tracklist (below). He debuted the album’s first single, “Bad Habits,” in June.
