Denis Villeneuve’s Dune, gets a new trailer that takes the sci-fi classic to new heights.

Dune, directed by Denis Villeneuve, will finally be released on October 22nd after months of delays. That means it’s time for the film’s marketing to pick back up, starting with a new trailer for the upcoming sci-fi blockbuster, the first in over a year.

Dune is set in a far-future intergalactic empire that relies on a mysterious “spice” to facilitate trade and travel among the stars, and the new trailer gives us a much better look at the premise. Since the spice can only be found on one planet, the desert world of Arrakis, there is a lot of competition over who controls the land — and consequently the spice.

Dune is based on the iconic science fiction novel by Frank Herbert, and the movie has a ridiculously packed cast that includes, Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides and follows his family’s voyage to take stewardship of Arrakis, a dangerous new planet where they must deal with warring factions, huge sandworms, and the true meaning of loyalty and destiny. Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgrd, Dave Bautista, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Zendaya, David Dastmalchian, Chang Chen, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, Charlotte Rampling, Jason Momoa, and Javier Bardem are among the cast members of the epic ensemble.

Dune, which was set to be released on December 18th, 2020, might be the next major franchise for Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures. Dune: The Sisterhood, an HBO Max prequel series, and a sequel are both in the works.
