Dakota Johnson Stars in the Latest Netflix Adaptation “Persuasion”

Netflix has released the long-awaited trailer for its latest adaptation ‘Persuasion’ starring Dakota Johnson.

The film is based on Jane Austen’s last published book of the same name and focuses on the complications of love life and the man who got away. The book was written during Austen’s final illness and is a tribute to both her immense talent and to those who lost love through no fault of their own.

Dakota plays Anne Elliot, the main heroine of the story, who refuses marriage to Captain Wentworth (Cosmo Jarvis) after pressure from her aristocratic parents due to his commoner status and poor finances, only to encounter him years later.

She has to deal with all the memories, regret, and longing that come with the reappearance of the Captain, whilst still being a dutiful daughter.

In the book, she is naturally a wallflower, so interactions don’t come easy to the character. Dakota breathes new life into her and gives her personality a new dimension.

The film is set to come out next month, July 15th, and fans of period drama will be eagerly awaiting the full release after the trailer gave them a glimpse of the delights to come.
