COVID-19: the UK Records 29,622 New Coronavirus Cases and 68 Additional Deaths

The UK has reported 29,622 new COVID-19 cases and 68 additional coronavirus-related deaths in the past 24 hours, according to government data.

The figures compare with 31,117 infections and 85 deaths reported yesterday, while 36,389 cases and 64 deaths were reported last week.

The seven-day average of infections is 36.1% less than the previous week, while deaths increased by 25.1%.

Since the start of the pandemic, a total of 129,583 people have died in the UK within 28 days of testing positive for COVID.

According to the latest data, 927 COVID patients were admitted to the hospital on July 26 and, there have been 6,341 admissions in the last seven days, a weekly increase of 18.9%.

In the meantime, 42,410 people received their first dose of a COVID vaccine yesterday, bringing the overall total to 46,775,525.

Additionally, 180,155 had their second hit, which means that 37,962,407 are now fully vaccinated.
