Famous British comedian Sean Lock passed away due to cancer at the age of 58 at his residence on August 18, 2021. His team has confirmed the news of his death and the entire comedian fraternity is mourning over the loss.
Lock was last seen in QI, The Last Leg, Have I Got News for You and The Big Fat Quiz of the year.
Expressing his grief, comedian Bill Bailey quoted “It is heartbreaking to lose my dearest friend Sean Lock, he was a true original, wonderful comic.”
Jon Richardson, Lock’s co-actor in his latest work “8 out of 10 cats”, tweeted: “I idolised Sean as a comic long before becoming a comedian myself and 10 years working alongside him didn’t diminish that in the least. An incredible comic brain and a truly unique voice.”
These tweets were followed by lamenting tweets from other celebrities and Lock’s fellow comedians, like Alan Davies, Ricky Gervais, Laura Claxton and Richard Osman.
Surrey born Lock had dropped out of the school in early 1980s and indulged in the construction of buildings at building sites. Eventually, he contracted skin cancer which he attributed to his over-exposure to the sun. After recovering from the ailment, he decided to venture into comedy. Holding a robust career in the field of television media and comedy, Lock essayed the role of a co-writer for the 2001 released feature &film “This Filthy Earth”, which was an adaptation of the 1887 novel La Terre, authored by Emile Tola.
Sean Lock was also a recipient of several awards including the Best live comic award at the British Comedy Award in the year 2000. In wake of Lock’s demise, Channel 4 has announced to pay a tribute to the departed comedian by means of special programming which will air on Thursday night.
