BTS x Coldplay First Live Stage at 2021 AMAs

British rock band Coldplay, and top K-group BTS, collaborated on a single for Coldplay’s ninth studio album, Music of the Spheres. The song is My Universe, which was released on September 24th, 2021. On the day of release, BTS and Coldplay also released an official lyrics video. Later on September 30th, an official music video directed by Dave Meyers was released on Coldplay official YouTube.

On October 5th, My Universe became Coldplay’s second and BTS’s sixth song to be placed #1 on Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song also topped the Rolling Stone Top 100 chart, making BTS the first Korean group to achieve it. 

BTS Rap-line members–RM, j-hope, and Suga participated in writing the Korean lyrics for the song. In this documentary on YouTube, it was revealed that Chris Martin himself flew to South Korea to direct the recording of BTS’ part for the song. 

Coldplay performed My Universe in Pandora’s Small Stage Series gig in New York a day before officially released. At Global Citizen Festival in New York on September 25th, Coldplay performed the song together with BTS. However, BTS attended the festival virtually and through a pre-recorded video.  

On November 18th, BTS and Coldplay announced their performance at the 2021 American Music Awards through their official Twitter account. It will be their first live stage performance of My Universe since the song was released nearly two months ago. BTS x Coldplay live stage performance at 2021 American Music Awards will be held on November 21st in Microsoft Theatre, Los Angeles.
