BTS’ Jungkook Was Tested Positive for COVID-19


BTS’ Jungkook was tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday (28/03) after taking a rapid PCR test and standard PCR test on Sunday (27/03) afternoon.


BTS is scheduled to attend and perform at the 64th GRAMMY Awards in Las Vegas. The band departed for Las Vegas on Monday (28/03) via Incheon International Airport but there were only five of them. j-hope was still under self-treatment and quarantine because of COVID-19 diagnosis meanwhile Jungkook took off from South Korea to Las Vegas on Sunday (27/03) with some staff due to some preparation that should be taken care of before the 64th Annual GRAMMY Awards on Sunday (03/04).

Before his departure, Jungkook was tested negative on a PCR test in South Korea but after arriving in Las Vegas, he felt a slight discomfort in his throat and proceeded to take a rapid PCR test (COVID-19 molecular PCR test) and a standard PCR test (COVID-19 quantitative test) on Sunday (27/03, PT)) afternoon. The result for both tests was positive and confirmed on Monday (28/03, PT).


Jungkook is currently under undertreatment and quarantined, following the guidelines of health authorities in the United States. He does not exhibit any symptoms other than a mild sore throat and will continue to monitor his health during the quarantine.


According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), if someone was tested positive for COVID-19 or has symptoms—regardless of vaccination status—they should undergo a self-quarantine for five days and they can conclude the self-quarantine after 5 full days if there is no symptoms left or 5 days after tested positive if there is no symptom experienced since the beginning.


So, it is expected that Jungkook’s self-quarantine will be concluded on April 2 if his symptom is improving.


Regarding BTS’ upcoming schedule in Las Vegas, Jungkook’s participation will be determined by the local regulations on COVID-19. BIGHIT Music will continue to place its artists’ health on the highest priority and will also continue to cooperate with the stakeholder regarding Jungkook’s appearance at the awards show.
