BTS Got Their Second Grammy Nomination

The Recording Academy just announced the 64th Annual Grammy Awards Nominations. The nominations—recordings, compositions, and artists that were in the eligible period of September 1st, 2020, to September 30th, 2021—were selected by the Recording Academy members.

BTS History with Grammy

BTS is not an unfamiliar name in Grammy’s show as they made their first appearance in 2019 to present the award of Best R&B Album of The Year category at the 61st Grammy Awards. A year later, the group joined Lil Nas X on stage to perform Old Town Road

First Nomination and Performance

In the 63rd Grammy Awards, BTS had their performance and also got their first Grammy nomination of Best Pop Duo/Group Performance with their first #1 Billboard Hot 100 single, Dynamite. Because of the pandemic, BTS was unable to attend the show in person. They built their own Grammy red carpet in South Korea and pre-recorded their performance.

Unfortunately, the group did not win the award, leaving fans furious about Grammy since Dynamite had more outstanding performances than the winner, who had only one stage performance. For example, BTS performed in Incheon International Airport for the 2020 Billboard Music Awards. They also performed in front of the Joseon dynasty Kings’ home, Gyeongbokgung Palace.

64th Grammy Awards Nomination

On November 23rd, 2021, BTS helped announce the Best Alternative Music Album‘s nomination of the 64th Grammy Awards through a virtual live stream. On the same live stream, another announcer revealed BTS got their second Best Pop Duo/Group Performance nomination for their hit summer single, Butter. Regarding the news, ARMY, BTS’ fandom, didn’t put too much expectation since last year’s result. They also expressed disappointment as The Recording Academy didn’t nominate BTS’ Butter for Record of The Year, although the song placed #1 for ten weeks in Billboard Hot 100 chart and broke BTS’s previous achievements.

The 64th Annual Grammy Awards will be held on January 31st, 2022, at the Crypto.com Arena, formerly known as Staples Center, Los Angeles.
