Lisa Manoban, the rapper and leader of K-Pop group Blackpink, released her first solo debut album last Friday, showcasing her forte and ability to perform complicated choreography and bop music. The 24-year-old singer’s first new single “Lalisa,” as well as the music video itself, received 70 million views in 24 hours, setting a new record in South Korean Pop history.
“Lalisa,” the first of two tracks in the “Lalisa” track album, demonstrated a fusion of Korean and Thai culture, representing the singer’s identity. Lisa struts through neon-lit city alleys, rides an ATV in the desert, and writes her name in the sand in a tropical paradise, giving the public an impressive impression.
Lisa, honors her native culture in Thailand which shows Thai-inspired rap sequence, scriptures and the black and gold garb.
This new hit song is a self-referential to Lisa, presenting herself in the world as who she is rather than as Blackpink’s resident leader, rapper, and main dancer. On the lyrics, there is a repeated and catchy phrase L-A-L-I-S-A. The video, within an hour release on YouTube, has already reached 7 million views and counting.
Lisa’s single album has two tracks in which “Lalisa” is the first song as same name of the album. While the second track, “Money,” which was also released on digital platforms on Friday, appeals to K-Pop fans.
