Billie Eilish’s ‘Happier Than Ever’ charted in the first week

Billie Eilish dethroned The Kid LAROI from No. 1 on the Billboard 200, gaining her second No. 1 album on the list with her sophomore album ‘Happier Than Ever’, in a battle of the teenagers.

Billie’s top-of-chart debut comes two years after her debut album ‘When We All Fall Sleep Where Do We Go?’, did the same. Her debut EP Don’t Smile At Me, which peaked at No. 14, as well as Live at Third Man Records and Prime Day Show x Billie Eilish, all charted on the Billboard 200.

According to MRC Data, Billie’s latest album sold 238,000 equivalent album units in its first week in the United States, giving her the fifth-largest week of 2021 in terms of comparable album units earned. Sour by Olivia Rodrigo is at the top of the list, having debuted at No. 1 in June with 295,000 units sold.

‘Happier Than Ever’ replaces ‘The Kid LAROI’s F*ck Love’, which was recently released last week and earned the Australian artist’s first chart-topper. According to PopCrave, Gen Z has taken up the top three spots on this week’s chart—Billie, Laroi, and Rodrigo.

“This was the most fulfilling most satisfying and profound experience I’ve ever had with my music,” Billie wrote of creating ‘Happier Than Ever’ last week on Instagram. “Finneas and I were just on cloud 9 making this album I feel.. I love every song on this project so so much it literally scares me thinking about putting it out into the world for anyone to listen to. I feel like crying. I grew so much in the process of making this album and experienced so much self realization and self reflection. I wish I could go back and make this album all over again because it was some of the best nights in my life.”

Meanwhile, Isaiah Rashad’s latest album ‘The House Is Burning’ arrived at No. 7 on the Billboard 200, marking his first-ever Top 10 release. It sold 41,000 total album-equivalent units, with 36,000 being SEA units and 5,000 being pure album sales. Lil Uzi Vert, Jay Rock, SZA, 6LACK, Duke Deuce, Smino, and others all make cameos on the album.
