BIGBANG’s T.O.P is reportedly working on his upcoming first solo album. He conveyed this when he was a cover model for Prestige Hong Kong magazine. The release of T.O.P’s first solo album is one of several plans after five years of hiatus.
“T.O.P opened up about his recent desire to change perceptions about mental health and is preparing to reveal his plans, including a solo debut album,” the magazine wrote on Wednesday (March 2).
The rapper is also said to be revealing the reasons for taking a long hiatus, as well as how he overcomes difficult times through art. Previously, BIGBANG’s T.O.P decided not to renew his contract with YG Entertainment after being there for 16 years. This was confirmed by the agency, YG Entertainment.
“T.O.P will terminate his exclusive contract with YG Entertainment and will continue his career as an artist and businessman,” said YG Entertainment, quoted from Tenasia via Naver on February 7.
“We respect T.O.P’s decision that he wants to expand his activities and have discussed it well with BIGBANG members,” YG continued.
Although he is no longer with YG Entertainment; T.O.P is still a part of BIGBANG and will join the idol group’s activities if conditions allowed. On this occasion, YG Entertainment also announced that BIGBANG is preparing to make a comeback.
“We have finished recording a new song and are currently filming a music video,” YG Entertainment said in early February 2022.

Previously, apart from being with BIGBANG, T.O.P also had a solo career by releasing several singles. He has had several solo single. Including Big Boy (2006), Turn It Up (2010), Because (2010), Oh Mom (2011), Doom Dada (2013), and Hi Haruka (2015).
