Ben&Ben, a highly acclaimed Filipino band, has finally teamed up with Munimuni, an indie-folk band that had just returned from an eight-month of hiatus.
Their new album, ‘Sugat,’ has finally released at 12 midnight today, Aug. 13.
The music video for the song was dropped on Ben&Ben’s YouTube account, and later made available on other streaming platforms. ‘Sugat’ is the second collaboration for the second album of ‘Ben&Ben.
‘Sugat’ is a heartfelt ballad that gives solace and healing in a time when it is most needed. ‘Sugat’ is a Filipino term that means ‘wound.’
They also revealed a song about healing from wounds of our past. Also, it encourages the listeners to evaluate and assure themselves that we are never bound to our past but to reflect and learn from it.
“A song for everyone who brings. Forgive yourself and let go of the past,” The group said in their Facebook page.
Sugat’ has received over 415,455 views on YouTube since its debut, making it the platform’s No. 6 top trending track.
Toni Muoz, a drummer, and Paolo Guico, a vocalist of the nine-piece band, wrote the song. It was composed as a “love letter to herself” in response to Toni’s experience of being weighted down by self-doubt at a difficult moment.
Jean Paul Verona and Keifer Cabugao co-produced “Sugat.” The song’s music video was shot in the Pinto Art Museum in Antipolo, Rizal, with members of both bands.
Ben & Ben’s latest collaboration with singer-songwriter Moira dela Torre, “Pasalubong,” was released just before the end of July.
The yet-to-be-named album will comprise 12 tracks, half of which will involve collaborations with other artists, as well as three singles released earlier this year.
