Barbie Movies That Brings Back Memories

Barbie movies are pure nostalgia to early gen Zers. They were childhood priced items that made kids’ imaginations run wild and most times decide what they want to be when they grow up, no matter how ridiculous that dream may be. But it was happiness in a disk. Here are the most memory rising movies of Barbie of all time.

Barbie as Rapunzel is the second Barbie film, which came out in 2002. The film tells the story of Rapunzel. A lost princess who lives in a large tower in a forest that is hidden by a spell with her stepmother Gothel; who regards her as a maid. Rapunzel, however, wants to be independent and paint; which Gothel despises. The painting scenes with the magic paintbrush are the highlights of the movie.

Released in 2003, Barbie of Swan Lake is the third Barbie movie. The plot revolves around Odette, a quiet village girl who does not believe she is brave. One day, destiny leads her to an Enchanted Forest, where she learns that she is the only one who can save the said forest from Rothbart, the evil warlock. The narrative was loosely based on the Swan Lake ballet and featured Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s music. They even make the ballet sequences using a real ballerina dancing with motion capture. It makes every little child want to become a ballerina or ballerino.

The fourth Barbie film is Barbie as the Princess and the Pauper. Barbie plays two characters: Anneliese, a blonde princess, and Erika, a brunette pauper. The girls wish to be free of their obligations, and by pursuing their passions, they will accomplish their dreams. This is probably the most iconic barbie princess movie ever, it just feels like it is.

Barbie whom formerly-wingless, now-winged fairy Elina and her cute puffball Bibble star in the Barbie: Fairytopia film series. Which is the first sequence-based Barbie film/movie series. Watching Elina developed, is like watching your own children grow up; from the moment Elina was a fairy without wings to having rainbow wings, it’s a roller coaster but it was a proud moment for Barbie.

The 9th Barbie film, Barbie in the 12 Dancing Princesses; was premiered in 2006. The 12 Dancing Princesses is adapted from the Brothers Grimm fable. It follows Princess Genevieve and her eleven sisters as they travel to a magical realm. A place where all of their wishes are granted. And the soundtrack of this movie is still relevant to this day.
