The author and creator of the beloved Arthur series wants John Legend to star in a live-action movie.
So, you know, Marc Brown casually came out and said he would be willing to do a live-action film for Arthur if John Legend played the main role. Arthur first got its cartoon adaptation in 1996 and went on to be the longest-running children’s cartoon after 25 years. It just recently stopped airing after its 25th season on February 21, 2022.
Arthur was a beautiful show about Arthur the Aardvark and his day-to-day educational activities with his friends and family. After 25 years, the cast will obviously change, but the most recent list contained Roman Lutterotti, Ethan Pugiotto, and more. They even had a bunch of popular guests like Larry King and the Backstreet Boys.
Now that the show is over, maybe it could go into the movie industry. Marc Brown even talked about it in an interview with THR.
“There might be a feature film in the works soon, too, about Arthur. I’m so excited. There was one maybe 15 years ago, and the right people weren’t coming together, so I pulled the plug in it. But now, we’ve got a great idea. I think it’s going to be intriguing for kids. It’s going to be helpful to kids. The subject matter is very timely, and maybe there is even a really interesting person involved… I mean, if I could pick one person I would love to be a part of this project, it might be John Legend.”
