The iPhone 13 leaks have been a rollercoaster, with both very excellent and slightly troubling information. However, Apple’s iPhone 13 release plans have been disclosed, and they include a surprise.
Wedbush Securities, an influential financial analyst, stated in a note to clients received by MacRumors that Apple plans to debut the iPhone 13 range in the “third week of September.” Furthermore, not only can this information be used to determine an exact date, but Wedbush also disclosed that Apple’s iPhone 13 Pro versions will feature significant storage increases.
The iPhone 13 will be released in the third week of September, between the 13th and the 17th. Apple has a tradition of announcing new iPhones on Tuesdays and releasing them (pre-order) on Fridays. If Wedbush is true, the launch date will be Tuesday, September 14th, with pre-orders beginning on Friday, September 17th.
I’d love for Apple to match the date and iPhone number and unveil the iPhone 13 on Monday, September 13th, but the firm passed up this opportunity last year, announcing the iPhone 12 range on Tuesday, October 13th, and I don’t expect them to do so this year.
In contrast to prior leaks, Wedbush claims that the iPhone 13 lineup will begin with a flagship 1TB iPhone 13 Pro, which is double the current top-tier storage choice on the iPhone 12 Pro. Furthermore, Bloomberg’s respected Apple insider Mark Gurman hinted about a new ‘ProRes’ video recording option for iPhone 13 Pro models last week, lending credence to these reports. According to reports, ProRes requires significantly more storage than even existing 4K video, making a 1TB iPhone 13 vital for video amateurs and professionals.
The trickle-down effect with the possibility of a 512GB mid-tier model is likely to be the largest benefit for most customers. I don’t see that changing, given that 128GB was only released as the entry-level tier last year, but 128GB, 512GB, and 1TB options all offer significant upsell potential at each price point.
This could be a deal-breaker, given what we already know about Apple’s forthcoming iPhones. While the iPhone 13 will be known for its 1TB storage option, it will also include enormous new cameras, larger batteries, faster charging, reduced notches, next-generation WiFi, and — on Pro models – internationally updated 5G and ProMotion screens.
The good news is that Apple has frozen iPhone 13 prices, which could result in another sales supercycle, but getting your hands on one is likely to be far more expensive than that.
