Apple Unveils The New MacBook Pro

 

On its latest launch event on 18 October 2021, Apple unveils the latest MacBook Pro series. There are two models offered, the 14″ model and the 16″ model, both have some differences in a matter of screen size, of course, chipset, and battery.

 

Chipsets

There are two variations available for M1 Pro, 8-core CPU, and 10-core CPU, and M1 Max only has a 10-core CPU.

MacBook Pro 14 inch

• M1 Pro has 16 GPU cores, 16 GB of unified memory, configurable to 32GB, and up to 200GB/s memory bandwidth.
• M1 Max has 16 or 32 GPU cores, 16GB unified memory, and up to 400GB/s memory bandwidth.

MacBook Pro 16 inch

• M1 Pro has 16 GPU cores, 16GB unified memory, and up to 200GB/s memory bandwidth.
• M1 Max has 32 GPU cores, 16GB unified memory, and up to 400GB/s memory bandwidth.

Battery

According to the test conducted by Apple, the 14″ model has a battery life of 17 hours of video playback, and 11 hours of wireless web browsing, while the 16″ model has 21 hours of video playback and 14 hours of wireless web browsing, the battery life may vary depends on user’s usage.

Display

The screen has a notch at the upper-center for the camera, the screen uses Liquid Retina XDR, which features extreme dynamic range and a 1.000.000:1 contrast ratio, 1 billion colors, 10.000 mini-LEDs, peak brightness of 1.600 nits, and 1.000 nits sustained brightness. The screen also has a 120hz refresh rate which provides smoother movement on display.

Camera

MacBook Pro has 1080p camera resolution with a lens with a wider aperture, which lets more light in, and a larger image sensor than doubled low-light performance.

Sound

MacBook Pro uses a six-speaker sound system with four force-canceling woofers, and also included with a spatial audio system and has 80% more bass and high-performance tweeters which makes the vocal clearer. It also included three studio-quality microphones with an up to 60% lower noise floor.

MacBook Pro has HDMI ports, an SDXC card slot, three Thunderbolts 4 ports, and the most important is a 3,5mm headphone jack port, which is very useful.

Operating System

MacBook Pro uses the latest macOS Monterrey as its built-in main operating system.
