AKMU, the brother-sister musical duo of Lee Chan-hyuk and Lee Su-hyun, has returned to drop a new star-studded album “New Episode,” which features top vocalists such as Lee Sun-hee and IU.
On July 26 at 6 p.m. KST, the album ‘Next Episode,’ as well as the music video for the title single, ‘NAKKA’ (Fall) featuring IU, will be released (July 27 at 5 am ET).
The pair’s most recent collaboration is called “Next Episode.” Zion.T, Beenzino, Crush, and Sam Kim is among the artists who collaborated on the album. Each song’s music video will be released according to their agency. YG Entertainment has announced their involvement.
“Previously our album was all written by myself and we didn’t have collaborations (with other artists),” Chan-hyuk explained during an online press preview on Monday.
“But for this album, we decided to go for a collaboration album. It was fun to write songs imagining their different (vocal) colors,” The singer-songwriter added.
Su-hyun added that the entire concept was inspired by the primary single “Nakka,” which was inspired by the musical film “The Greatest Showman” and conveyed the theme of sticking by someone no matter what.
“We thought about how we could make the song’s message more approachable to the public and concluded that IU was the (right) person,” she said. “We felt if we collaborated with an artist who is popular and knows how to convey a message, we could approach more people. IU willingly accepted the suggestion and that led to the start of a collaboration album”, Su-hyud noted.
Lee Chan-hyuk is seen at a raucous house party before free-falling from his flat and crashing through the odd building’s various levels. Lee Su-hyun, his sister, eventually saves him and brings him back to the celebration. IU, unfortunately, does not feature in the video.
