According to Yuli Widiyastuti, Principal Researcher at the Center for Research and Development of Medicinal Plants and Traditional Medicines (B2P2TOOT) of the Indonesian Ministry of Health, Turmeric contains curcumin which acts as an immunomodulator (increases the body’s defense mechanism) and anti-inflammatory. In addition, curcumin in turmeric is able to bind to the protease domain (6Lu7) and spike glycoprotein which is a SARS-CoV-2 protein receptor.
