6 Biographical Movies You Must Watch

Biographical films often dramatize the lives of non-fiction or historical figures. In such films, the lives of historical figures are shown, the real names of the main characters are used. It differs from documentary and historical films that tells the comprehensive story of a person’s life, or at least the life of one historically most important person. Here are some biography movies that you should watch.

A Beautiful Mind (2001)

Based on the life of American mathematician John Nash, Nobel Prize winner in Economics and Abel Prize winner. It started when he was a graduate student at Princeton University. This followed his battle with his schizophrenia and paranoia.

Catch Me If You Can (2002)

Based on the story of Frank Abagnale, who, before his 19th birthday, successfully cleared up a multi-million dollar scam by pretending to be an airline pilot, doctor, and parish attorney. The authenticity of his story is questionable.

The Aviator (2004)

It chronicles the life of aviation pioneer and filmmaker Howard Hughes. It is a work that depicts his life, which was successful in 1927, but became unstable due to obsessive compulsive disorder.

The Social Network (2010)

Mark Zuckerberg created the social networking site that became known as Facebook while he was a student at Harvard. The film chronicles the founding of Facebook and the lawsuits by those who claim Facebook stole their ideas.

The Wolf of Wall Street (2013)

The film follows the life of Jordan Belfort at the start of his career as a stockbroker in New York and how his firm, Stratton Oakmont, became involved in Wall Street corruption and fraud, which ultimately led to its downfall.

The Theory of Everything (2014)

The film follows the life of a hypothetical physicist Stephen Hawking, from his time as an fabulous astronomy understudy working on his research. He soon learns that he endures from motor neurone disease and he has only 2 years to live.

A biographical film is definitely based on a true story, the story doesn’t have to be as in a movie, some films provide dramatization to make it look more real. My favorite biographical film is The Social Network, how about you?
