List of Psychological Driven Story Anime.

As we all know anime is not only catered for children, adults can even watch it. For you who do not like a long-run series, I made a list of 5 Short Psychological Animes to watch.

*Warning: Most of the anime in this list are not recommended for people who have a weak stomach. Do watch them at your own risks.*

“Terror in Resonance” or “Terror in Tokyo” is an anime produced by MAPPA and created also directed by Shinichiro Watanabe. The anime first aired on FujiTV. THe anime first aired on July 10 2014 and last aired on September 25 2014.

The story begins with two high school boys Nine and Twelve, stole a prototype atomic bomb in a terrorist attack in a nuclear facility. The government was thrown in chaos trying to find the culprits, without the citizens knowing. A few months later, a video came up to the surface. Two masked men who we found out was Nine and Twelve, called themselves “sphinx” and threatens the police that they will explode a building only if they solved a riddle. Soon in their mission, they befriend a lonely girl named Lisa who caught them and found out about their plans.

“The Perfect Insider” is a novel written by Hiroshi Mori. The novel later was adapted into a manga, illustrated by Torao Asada. The manga was serialized by Getonsha’s Comic Birz magazine from March 2001 to August 2001 and has around 1 volume. The anime was then adapted and aired on Fuji TV from October 8 2015 until December 17 2015 by A-1 Pictures. The novel was also adapted into a live action drama that was released on October 21 2014 until December 23 2014 and has 10 episodes. It also has a game published by KID on Playstation.

The story is about Souhei Saikawa, a professor and Moe Nishinosono, a college student went to a remote island of their associate Shiki Magata, a genius programmer who rarely likes to have guests in a research facility. However upon arriving in the facility, they were trapped in a murder mystery case of Shiki. Along with other people, they find hints of who might be the real culprit.

3. Paranoia Agent

The anime was created by Satoshi Kon and produced by Madhouse. One of his other work of arts are Paprika, Perfect Blue, and Tokyo Godfathers. The anime first aired on February 3 2004 until May 18 2004 on Wowow.

The story starts with a woman named  Tsukiko Sagi, a designer of a well known pink doll. After work, she went back home while walking in a dark alley. She was attacked by a small figure with a golden bat while wearing inline skates. Tsukiko is one of the killer’s victims. Musashino City is in horror as the killer, “Lil Slugger” or “Bat Boy” roams the streets uncaught.

4. Ergo Proxy

“Ergo Proxy”  is a cyberpunk styled anime that was written by Dai Sato and directed by Shuko Murase. The anime was produced by Manglobe and first aired on February 25 2006 until August 12 2006 on Wowow.

The story sets in the time where robots have dominate the world. These robots, “AutoReiv” was supposed to help humans in their daily lives. However, the robots have obtain a strange disease called “Cogito Virus” that made them have self-awareness. Re-l was assigned to investigate along with his Autoreiv, Iggy. They then finds the dark secrets of the society.

5. Happy Sugar Life

Written and illustrated by Tomiyaki Kagisora, the manga has around 10 volumes with 48 chapters. The manga was published Square Enix’s Gangan Joker from May 22 2015 until July 22 2019. The manga was then adapted into an anime by Ezo’la and first aired on July 14 2018 until September 29 2018 on various Tv channels like MBS, TBS, and AT-X.

Satou Matsuzaka is a high school student who has a good reputation. However, what the other did not realize is Satou kept a missing girl named Shio Koube in her house. She does not harm her in any way but, she does murder anyone that tries to take Shio away from her.

These are some short psychological anime that I have watched. I do have some trouble understanding it because of how complicated they are. So I tried my best to understand and I really enjoy watching these animes. There are some other animes that I have not include, so stick around for the next list.
