There are numerous reasons to watch Star Wars, and yes, this includes the prequels. There are many heated debates about the Star Wars series, with loyal fans and rabid haters on both sides, and to be honest, each side has fair points. But if you’re a movie enthusiast who’s asking why you should see Star Wars, why it’s so popular, and why you should see all of the films, I’ve got some good arguments of my own! Whether you enjoy science fiction, action, fantasy, or even romance, here are ten reasons why Star Wars is fantastic from beginning to end.
1. These films are classic
The original Star Wars trilogy is a fantastic collection of films. These films aren’t just cult classics; they’re critically acclaimed and widely praised. Star Wars fans are among the most loyal and passionate of any media on the planet, yet admiration for the films extends far beyond the diehards. “A New Hope” and “The Empire Strikes Back” are both ranked in the top 20 on IMDB, at number 20 and 12, respectively. It says a lot that these films were ranked so high because science fiction films are frequently panned by critics and underappreciated by the film community.
2. They changed the game
Every now and then, a film comes along that completely transforms not simply a genre, but the entire film industry. When “The Wizard of Oz” went from black and white to color in 1939. When Clark Gable said, “Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn,” in “Gone With the Wind,” moviegoers’ jaws dropped across the country, marking the first time a curse word was used on the big screen. When “A New Hope” was released in 1977, it accomplished all of this and more. The special effects in this film changed the way movies were made. In order to create the effects for “A New Hope,” George Lucas founded the company Industrial Light and Magic.
3. These movies are timeless
In a similar spirit, another compelling reason to see Star Wars is that it is timeless. The plot itself, in both the originals and prequels, never really loses its relevance. The films are enjoyable on a variety of levels since there is something for everyone. You’ll find something to which you can relate no matter who you are, what you like, or what you believe in. Because, as I previously stated, these films aren’t only science fiction; they also include action, adventure, and romance, to name a few.
4. The story
When it comes to viewing order, everyone has their own preferences. Some individuals prefer to see the films in order, so they’ll start with A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi, then move on to The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, and Revenge of the Sith. If you’re wondering why you should watch Star Wars, one of the best reasons is the story that unfolds. As a result, I recommend that you watch them in order at least once. Begin with Episode I: The Phantom Menace and progress to Episode VI: Return of the Jedi. Watch as Anakin sets out on his adventure, and learn about the love tale that leads to Luke and Leia. More importantly, keep an eye on the Force. You’ll witness civilizations rise and fall right from the beginning.
5. The music score
This may seem strange, but it’s one of the most fundamental reasons why Star Wars is so great, at least in my opinion. If you’re a music fan, it should make sense to you as well. The music played a major role in the release of A New Hope, as well as The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. The soundtrack, for example, was a huge hit. Who hasn’t heard those classic instrumentals before? Not only did the soundtrack enhance the plot, which was groundbreaking in the 1970s, but it was also a huge hit with the audience that they preferred to listen to it all the time.
