It is almost Halloween! If you do not have any plans for Halloween, you are not allowed to just sit at home doing nothing. The spooky season should be celebrated by watching scary movies. Grab your popcorn cause I want to recommend to you these three scary movies that you must watch on Halloween night.
1. Evil Dead (2013)
32 years since the original film and 21 years from the last sequel, the remake of Evil Dead (2013) is a supernatural horror film directed by Fede Álvarez, written by Rodo Sayagues and Álvarez, and produced by Robert Tapert, Sam Raimi, and Bruce Campbell. Actor Shiloh Fernandez was cast in the lead male role of David. Initially, Lily Collins was scheduled to play the lead female role of Mia, but dropped out in January 2012, with Jane Levy replacing her the next month. Lou Taylor Pucci, Elizabeth Blackmore, and Jessica Lucas later joined the cast.
The movie, itself, is about Mia, a drug addict, is determined to kick the habit. To that end, she asks her brother, David, his girlfriend, Natalie, and their friends Olivia and Eric to accompany her to their family’s remote forest cabin to help her through withdrawal. Eric finds a mysterious Book of the Dead at the cabin and reads aloud from it, awakening an ancient demon. All hell breaks loose when the malevolent entity possesses Mia.
2. Wrong Turn: The Foundation (2021)
Backwoods terror and never-jangling suspense meet when Jen and a group of friends set out to hike the Appalachian Trail. Despite warnings to stick to the trail, the hikers stray off course and cross into a land inhabited by The Foundation, a hidden community of mountain dwellers who use deadly means to protect their way of life. Suddenly under siege, Jen and her friends seem headed to the point of no return- unless Jen’s father can reach them in time.
Directed by Mike P. Nelson and written by Alan McElroy, Wrong Turn: The Foundation is a reboot of the Wrong Turn film series. The movie stars Charlotte Vega, Adain Bradley, Emma Dumont, Dylan McTee, Daisy Head, Bill Sage, and Matthew Modine.
3. Drag Me To Hell (2009)
Drag Me to Hell is a supernatural horror film co-written and directed by Sam Raimi. The plot, written with his older brother Ivan, focuses on a loan officer or Christine, who, because she has to prove to her boss that she can make the “hard decisions”, chooses not to extend an elderly woman’s mortgage. In retaliation, the woman places a curse on the loan officer, threatening her soul with eternal damnation. Christine seeks a psychic’s help to break the curse, but the price to save her soul may be more than she can pay. After three days of escalating torment, it will plunge her into the depths of Hell to burn for eternity.
Those are the three movies that will make you scream, disgust, and cover your face with a pillow on Halloween.
